Although there are no confirmed cases in Monrovia, the City continues to prepare for COVID-19. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided resources for businesses to take proper precautions during this time.
According to the CDC, businesses are recommended to:
- Actively encourage sick employees to stay home
- Emphasize respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene by all employees
- Perform routine environmental cleaning
- Designate a time to meet with your staff to educate them on COVID-19 and what they may need to do to prepare
The California Department of Public Health has also provided public event organizers with guidance on preparing for possible impacts of COVID-19. Mass gatherings and large community events have the potential to increase the transmission of COVID-19. To slow the spread of respiratory virus infections, including COVID-19, the public should increase social distancing. Implementing social distancing strategies is as simple as having verbal salutations in place of handshakes and hugs, not sharing utensils, cups and linens and staying six feet apart from others at public events. The City of Monrovia will continue to remain vigilant and committed to providing updates, information and advisories from our local, state and federal public health agencies as they become available.
