The Monrovia Public Library (321 S. Myrtle Ave.) and the Monrovia Community Center (119 W. Palm Ave) are now open as the City's designated cooling centers and will remain open to the public until Sunday, August 4, 2025. All ages are welcome, and minors must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Hours of operation are as follows:
Monrovia Public Library
- Monday, August 18 - Wednesday, August 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Thursday, August 21 through Saturday, August 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday- Closed
Monrovia Community Center
- Monday, August 18 - Thursday, August 21 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, August 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, August 23 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, August 24 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Excessive heat poses a substantial health risk, especially for young children, the elderly, people with chronic diseases, pregnant individuals, people with disabilities, and people who are socially isolated and may be especially sensitive to negative health impacts from excessive heat.
Here are a few reminders to stay safe and cool:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Stay in an air-conditioned room
- Check up on relatives and neighbors
- Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
