Good morning, Monrovians!

Tomorrow, the California Native Plant Society’s annual Native Plant Sale returns to town at the Monrovia Historical Museum (742 E Lemon)!

From 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., discover thousands of climate-appropriate plants that support local wildlife and biodiversity, and browse native flower field guides, t-shirts, and art. As an added bonus, the City of Monrovia will also be giving away free native trees while supplies last! Don’t miss this chance to grow a beautiful, eco-friendly garden while supporting our local ecosystem!

We also invite you to join us in honoring and remembering our veterans.

From now through Tuesday, November 11, please visit Library Park between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to view the annual Field of Honor display and write a message of appreciation to add to our flag display. Of course you can stop by the Public Library and learn more about our unique Veterans Program and the services we provided right here in Old Town.

Come join us on Tuesday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m., in Library Park (321 S Myrtle Ave) for a Veterans Day Ceremony, hosted by the Allied Veterans Council of the Upper San Gabriel Valley.

As a reminder, Monrovia City Hall, the Public Works Yard, Community Services, and the Library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Regular City operations will resume on Wednesday, November 12.

Sincerely,

Proposed Assessment District: Monrovia Citywide Lighting, Landscaping, and Parks Maintenance District - Ballots Due November 18

There’s still time to return your ballot for the proposed Monrovia Citywide Lighting, Landscaping, and Parks Maintenance District, but the deadline is fast approaching.

Ballots must be received by Monday, November 18.

The proposed assessment district would establish a new district to replace the City’s two existing assessment districts, which have funded neighborhood lighting, landscaping, traffic signals, and park upkeep since the 1990s. The new district is designed to provide a stable, long-term funding source to maintain the community amenities that make Monrovia a safe, attractive, and welcoming place to live.

If approved, the district would allow the City to continue investing in lighting, safety, and green spaces, with new assessment rates phased in gradually over five years.

Property owners should have already received a ballot, fact sheet, and instructions in the mail. If you haven’t submitted your ballot yet, please do so soon. Every vote counts in determining the future of this community investment.

To learn more, visit the City’s website for background information, timelines, and an interactive map of proposed rates.
