An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from March 17, at 10 a.m., through March 20, at 8 a.m. During the heat, please take the following precautions:
- Drink plenty of water and keep hydrated throughout the day.
- If you must go out, plan your day to avoid going out during the hottest hours and wear sunscreen.
- Cars get very hot. Never leave children or pets in cars and call 911 if you see a child or pet in a car alone.
- Beware of heat-related illness, like heat stroke, and call 911 if you see these symptoms: high body temperature, vomiting, and pale and clammy skin.
- Check on those at risk, like those who are sick, older adults, pregnant women, and children.
Monrovia Canyon Park & Hillside Wilderness Preserve Remain Open
Monrovia Canyon Park and the Hillside Wilderness Preserve will remain open throughout this time. Visitors planning outdoor activities are encouraged to:
- Plan for early hikes/walks
- Take regular breaks while on trail in shaded areas
- Dress appropriately for the weather (light summer attire is preferred)
- Bring a small backpack with extra water, at least two water bottles
- Wear hats to help block the sun
Stay Cool at the Monrovia Community Center & Public Library
Those looking for a place to stay cool are encouraged to visit the Community Center or the Public Library to avoid the heat.
