Emergency Alert
Receive trusted public safety alerts from the City of Monrovia and its Monrovia Police and Fire Departments, as well as other local public safety agencies at no cost.

The City of Monrovia may use various forms of alert and notification systems to inform the public of when there is an emergency and what actions they need to take. The severity and type of emergency will determine the type of notification used.

SIREN TEST ON APRIL 30, 2025

Today, April 30, 2025 at approximately 12:00 PM, you may have heard a loud siren noise. Do not be alarmed. The City conducted a siren test to consider a siren system for future consideration. Sirens are an outdoor warning system designed to alert the community that something dangerous is approaching.

Monrovia Opt-In Text Messages

Opt-in text messages will push out alerts only to people who sign-up to receive these alerts. These alerts would be ideal for people who may have family members living or working within Monrovia city limits, but do not reside not in the area. These types of alerts will include notifications related significant events taking place within Monrovia. This includes emergency incidents.

How to sign up? Text ‘MONROVIA’ to 67283

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)

WEAs are used to warn the public about dangerous weather, evacuation warnings/orders, and other critical situations- all through alerts on compatible cell phones and other mobile devices. WEA does not identify your location or phone number- it simply sends a message to all devices in a given area. The City would send WEA messages to geographically targeted, text-like messages alerting them of imminent threats to safety in their area.

How to sign up? No need to sign up. If you are in the vicinity of the situation, an alert will be sent to your phone.

Alerts for Monrovia and surrounding areas

Nixle provides news and information alerts, so you know what's happening in areas that matter to you. The services allows residents to receive critical information on emergencies, road closures, and other important local information right to their mobile device or email based on zip codes.

Nixle sends alerts based on zip code so people who opt-in may receive alerts from:

Arcadia Police Department
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

Nixle alerts are based on zip code so you may receive alerts from the City of Monrovia, City of Arcadia, and/or Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Monrovia opt-in text messages will include notifications related to significant events taking place within Monrovia.
