Criteria for serving on Art In Public Places Committee (AIPP):
- Appointees may only serve on one advisory body at a time.
- Appointees must live with in incorporated Monrovia.
- Appointees may not be a City of Monrovia employee.
- Individuals serving as an elected official of the City may not serve on an advisory body at the same time.
In 2004, the City Council adopted the Art in Public Places program. The program requires residential development projects involving five or more dwelling units and a cost in excess of $1 million, or commercial, office, or other projects costing in excess of $1 million to allocate a fee to be paid to the City or applied to art work in an amount equal to 1% of the project cost. Each application for the installation of an artwork is reviewed initially by the Art in Public Places Committee which makes a recommendation to the City Council.
