Clean Power is available for Monrovia Customers!

Monrovia CPA

The City of Monrovia has selected Clean Power Alliance (CPA) as its new preferred electricity provider. Starting in March 2024, homes and businesses will transition to CPA service and automatically receive clean, competitively priced energy from CPA. The City of Monrovia also selected 100% Green Power with 100% renewable energy as its preferred energy option, making the community cleaner and more sustainable for years to come.

Choosing 100% GREEN POWER helps reduce more than 115 million pounds of harmful greenhouse gases each year, which is like taking more than 11,600 gasoline-powered cars off the road annually or growing 865,000 trees for a decade.

What is the Clean Power Alliance?

Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is a community choice aggregator (CCA) and is organized around local control and choice, providing cities and counties the opportunity to select their electricity provider to best serve residents and businesses. Monrovia is one of more than 200 communities in California that have selected CCAs to provide their residents and businesses with a choice of energy sources, to increase the amount of renewable energy provided to their community, and to protect the health of residents and future generations by reducing their community’s harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is a locally controlled clean electricity provider in Southern California. In December 2022, the City of Monrovia joined CPA, which includes 35 member jurisdictions in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. CPA is governed by a board of directors, which includes an elected official from each member agency and is classified as a Joint Powers Authority. Through CPA, all residential and commercial electricity customers can obtain clean, renewable energy at a competitive price.

July 2025 Update

The CPA Board of Directors recently approved Clean Power Alliance (CPA) rates for the Fiscal Year 2025–2026. Beginning July 1, rates for residential and small-to-medium business customers went down, enhancing overall affordability and strengthening our competitiveness with Southern California Edison (SCE).   When comparing rates to SCE, Clean Power Alliance's Lean Power option is  2% below SCE’s base rate. The Clean Power option is about the same as SCE’s base rate, while the 100% Green Power option is 6% above SCE’s base rate.  Customers can choose to opt-up, opt-down, or opt-out of CPA anytime.

This information is intended for your awareness and internal reference since SCE’s rates can change multiple times throughout the year, which may consequently affect rate comparisons. CPA remains committed to transparency and will continue to share customer-facing rate information as part of our direct customer communications.
