Meet the Fire Chief

As the Fire Chief, Chief Jeremy Sanchez oversees all aspects of the fire department, including long-range planning, budgeting, personnel development, and setting and meeting specific goals and objectives relative to maintaining and improving levels of service to the community.

In June 2022, Chief Sanchez was named Fire Chief. As a 22-year department veteran, Chief Sanchez has held positions as Fire Cadet, F.S.C. Brush Chipper Inspector, Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and Division Chief while serving the Monrovia community. Throughout his tenure, Chief Sanchez has been responsible  of numerous administrative and operational programs that have enhanced the quality of   community service the department offers.

Most recently, Chief Sanchez has been responsible for the Community Risk Reduction and Disaster Preparation Division, where he oversaw the annual brush clearance and business inspection programs, coordinated emergency preparedness training for city employees and residents, and maintained citywide disaster plans. In addition, Chief Sanchez  is also in charge of the Training and Emergency Medical Services Division, where he oversees of all aspects of departmental training and recruitments, paramedic certification, equipment management, quality improvement, and legal matters for all basic and advanced emergency medical services.

Chief Sanchez holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration from Waldorf College. He is also certified as a paramedic and a Chief Fire Officer by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal.. In 2023, he will also graduate from the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program in Emmetsburg, Maryland. 

Chief Sanchez and his wife Hazel are proud parents of their three children, Mia, Lucas, and Siena. In his free time, Chief Sanchez enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family.

Chief Sanchez serves as the 17th Monrovia Fire Chief. Throughout his twenty plus years in Monrovia, Chief Sanchez has been honored to serve the Monrovia community and the members of the department.
