Monrovia’s Pre-Approved ADU Plan Program was developed to help homeowners who want to add housing without being overwhelmed by design decisions or long review times. For many, choosing a simple, high-quality design that’s already vetted by the City makes the permitting process faster and easier.

Catalogue of Pre-Approved ADU Plan

Looking to build an ADU but not sure where to start? The City of Monrovia offers pre-approved ADU plans that are ready to use, saving you time and money during the permitting process. These plans have already been reviewed by City staff to ensure they meet key design and code requirements. All you need is a site-specific layout prepared by the listed architect.

Currently, we have one pre-approved plan available, but we’re in the process of reviewing additional designs and will be adding more soon. Be sure to check back here regularly for updates as new plans become available!

A thoughtfully designed 476 square foot, one-bedroom, one-bathroom detached ADU. This compact unit features an open living and kitchen area, full bathroom, dedicated bedroom, and efficient layout ideal for small lots or backyard rentals.
